Summer is a such a great time to unplug and refocus on the things that matter most. The longer days and nicer weather naturally lend to more time and motivation to work on projects, enjoy the outdoors and make memories with loved ones. If you’ve noticed, I’ve been on a blog break this past month doing exactly that.
My In-Laws came to visit over this period, and I loved witnessing our kids getting to know their Mimi and Papa. It was nice for the adults to catch up, too. Being separated by so many miles from extended family makes moments together like this so much more special.
While they were here, we went sight seeing, worked on a new side patio (details coming soon!) and hosted a little garden party in celebration of my 43rd birthday. The party was a lovely gathering of neighbors, friends and family. Food was served potluck style — what an awesome assortment! — and the kids were kept entertained with a bounce house.
We lucked out with mild weather that comes before a storm, and that made our outdoor party in Virginia in the middle of July actually quite pleasant. Frozen pina coladas helped, too.
As the weather turns more amendable for enjoying outdoor gatherings, hold onto the remaining days of summer and rock out to this amazing playlist. With a fun mix of musical genres, styles and decades, it’s the perfect accompaniment to an outdoor soiree and great to listen to while chillaxing in the sun.
There are some throwbacks from my high school days, a few more recent songs, a little country and some quality rock and roll. And if you want more than these 20 songs, my spring playlist delivers that summertime vibe, too.

Each playlist has a theme and consists of 20 songs released on the 20th of each month.
Pineapple Princess? LOL! I love your no boundaries mixing! And heaven knows a little bit of Sheila E never hurt nobody…
I love your comment, Kathleen! Yes, my taste in music goes from “that’s my jam!” to “I know, please don’t judge me.” I hope you enjoyed the playlist!
