So far this year on the 20 on 20 playlists, you’ve heard a compilation by my kids. You’ve heard some of my favorite tunes as well as songs from the 80’s, songs about love and songs that feel like spring. It seems only fitting that this month’s playlist is put together by my husband, Sam.
I refer to him as the “Chief” in writing this blog. I figure the Pioneer Woman has her Marlboro Man, so I can have my Chief. Often working behind the scenes, Sam is a big supporter and contributor to the blog. While I’m usually the one dreaming up design concepts and selecting paint swatches, he’s the one handling the construction process that makes it happen. He teaches me a ton along the way and has developed much of his technical expertise from years working as a machinist in the U.S. Navy. We are very proud of his military service!
When Sam and I were first dating, he played guitar and sang cover songs at a local bar with a friend who played the congas. He also had a group of friends who gathered weekly for Music Night at their house. We took a trip to Nazareth, PA to tour the Martin Guitar Factory and celebrated a few New Year’s Eves with Gov’t Mule live at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. Music was a common chord in our lives.
He hasn’t picked up a guitar for long since having kids, but he is a music man, for sure. I remember him once remarking that he woke up each day with a song in his head. (That was likely before babies, too!) As much as he enjoys his work, I think he is happiest when he’s making music.

From reading about your thrift store finds to your bucket list with your family for the summer, it is all heartwarming and precious. And I even have the privilege and of having almost a front row seat to seeing some of your creations in the making! Being your neighbor is a blessing in so many ways!!!
