Wow, I cannot believe an entire school year has already passed. My son has now completed his first year of preschool.
Just look at all these adorable faces in his class!
Now, if you’ll remember from my previous post, we started out a bit rocky. It was my first time trusting my child into someone else’s care for any extended period of time. It was his first time in an academic setting, socializing with other kids and being fully independent of me. Despite our many trepidations in the beginning, I am so thankful to report that it was smooth sailing the rest of the year!
From the things I hoped my child would learn this year, he accomplished them all… and so much more! He knows the alphabet and can recite it in order. He can identify and write his first name. He has learned many more shapes, colors, words and numbers. And even though he still struggles with holding a pencil/crayon correctly, his coloring has improved by leaps and bounds. He has developed some courage to try new things, and is all in if he sees his peers doing it. And most of all, he thinks that school is fun!
That makes me one happy mommy.
I believe much of his success this school year came from the care and guidance given by his teacher. I am so thankful for her. She set a wonderful tone that inspired his curiosity and cultivated a love of learning. Yes, he was afraid of her the first week, but he quickly grew to admire and respect her. I really appreciated her ability to balance being firm when necessary while still being encouraging and kind.
In addition to his preschool teacher, he also had two great teaching assistants in his classroom. He also had awesome teachers in music, science and art. Just look at some of the cool crafts and projects he completed this year.
I am even more pleased as punch that his time at school has helped him at home, too. He’s become better at following directions, listening, understanding consequences, doing things independently, sharing with his little sister and helping around the house. Super win-win in my book. Needless to say, he will be returning next year for Pre-K.
Here’s my handsome boy from his school pictures this spring. He has grown and developed so much in the past year. He’s such a smart little boy and caring friend. I am just so proud of him. Ok, mommy brag over! — v.
I LOVE his school pics! So glad it turned out great and he loves school. Now he will progress with leaps and bounds! So proud of you, little buddy!!!!!
I am gathering a little package to send to you that includes his school pics, so don’t think you only get the blog pics! Thank you for your advice to help me stick to it in the beginning. Now to decide if we send his sister in the fall… she is so ready to go!
He really looks like his dad, but he has your cheeks!
